It’s only in recent times we’re seeing irrefutable proof of just how narcissistic, self-interested, and outright scammy the last 5-10 years of (mostly) online activism was. Some may have felt it all along, but either there was little evidence or they still wanted to believe in the best of people, even if those people were annoying.
I’ve also felt a lessening of a cultural pressure to always post an opinion on something or to tie all your personal interests as being part of some greater and nobler political movement (the most eye-rolling of which are people trying to politicize their dating lives and justify why all the factors that help them are moral while those that don’t are “white supremacist” or “patriarchal” or whatever).
Silence is violence? Loud-mouthed ignorance motivated more by vague hopes of internet stardom than altruism is violence too then.
I think we are also witnessing the limitations of a victim-oppressor mindset. It has got them far. Lots of mindless stormtroopers.
But the ongoing situation in the holy land is complex. Even those who were nominally pro-Palestine or anti-Israel, which seems to be much of the Left, had to contend with the actual events. The kidnap of women and children as well as civilians being targeted.
When you are using programmed slogans instead of thinking through your own position this is the inevitable end result. An actual complex situation is not easily understood by the simple minded, which is what most of the SJWs seem to be.
Great analysis. The kind of knee jerk tweeting BLM used has worked for them in the past, so that element didn't surprise me.
I also think there are real world implications. Most Western nations have seen pro-Palestine and pro-Hamas rallies in their major cities. I am confident this has rattled some of the midwits and laptop class who are beginning to realize the profound cultural changes they have cheered on.
Where I live the rallies were quite explicitly pro-Hamas, not just pro-Palestine. All ignored by mainstream media. On Tik Tok however many videos appeared analysing the absence of media coverage at these very visible events. The kind of meta observation you mention. Mainstream news shows with 500,000 regular viewers ignore it; John Nobody from the local area get a million views on a video showing what is actually happening with some impromptu discussion about its implications. That to me is a game changer.
🎯
“Playboy cancels a pr0n star for supporting Hamas” sounds like a Mad Lib I’d have filled in while drunk. And yet it’s real. What a world.
Legit lol 🤷🏾♂️
Some high class pattern recognition goin' on here! ... Bravo mo! ... Can't wait for your next dispatch!
Too kind. I followed you back

Objectively a game changer.
