Hey Mo! Im late, but thanks for the article! How would you say the Alt-Left has developed since then? You wrote this 2 months after 10/7/23, protests were still fresh. Now we are getting close to 1 1/2 years since then, and in my personal perception things are becoming calmer, Im seeing lots of overwhelm caused by Trump and other nations local politics, the issues becoming to much to work in a focussed matter. Is this just my bubble?

Good question. Yes it has been weakened but keep in mind that much of the alt-left youth that have left TikTok are on Rednote now. Their impact might not be felt here but Rednote might be a great dark forest for them. We'll see.

I disagree, there is no alt-Left. The Democrats simply never represented the Left. They used the rhetoric of leftists values to push a center right platform, and they beat down anyone who suggested alternatives. What is happening now is that the suppressed Left is waking up again.

“Class issues have been flawlessly sewn into the lining of the movement as well.”

This is the clue, class issues aren’t “sewn into the lining of the movement” they are the very core of it. We are seeing class issues being discussed openly now and people are realizing that the identity politics and technocracy which define the Democratic party were designed to break apart the very coalition that they claimed to served.

Whatever you want to call it though, it is a positive development.

Yes. And Alt Left IS the correct term. Horseshoe theory. Radicalism joins hands from both sides. Violence in the name of anti-violence. Racism in the name of antiracism. Fucking absurd.
