I’m still not convinced Postmodernism is going anywhere anytime soon. It may not seem present on the surface of prevailing trends in art and culture, but it is the ideological underpinning for so much of the philosophical thought that pervades American society. It operates like an egregore that bridges the gap between an individual’s worldview and the meta-scale social structures that they constitute, happily married to American Individualism and the comfort it finds in Standpoint Epistemology (often associated with feminist theory, but equally applied in the obverse to things like Christian Fundamentalism) and vulgar Moral Relativism/Ethical Subjectivism.
Thanks! I would say the reverse. The cultural landscape will be the last place where postmodernism lies, but as a paradigm of thought, it has fully failed now.
